Summer Homework

How can Skinner Scholars continue their academic and intellectual growth during the summer?
Why should students continue to access academic resources over the summer?
At Skinner, we want to provide resources to have our students avoid “summer slide.” Our students work so hard throughout our school year to make academic gains with their grade level content. We want to make sure that students continue to “flex” their reading, writing, thinking
and math muscles so they can start their next year at or above where they finished the previous school year.

What has changed?
Over the past few months, staff, students, and many families have asked that we update/upgrade our Summer Homework Policy considering the pandemic. Skinner has decided to make a change to our traditional Summer Homework system. Summer Homework is not mandatory or required for any students for the 21-22 school year. We encourage students and families to engage in some of the academic resources below, but nothing will be graded or collected at the beginning of the school year.

What resources are encouraged for my student to be prepared for the 21-22 school year?
Since students will keep their chromebooks over the summer, all resources are digital and can be accessed using their school provided devices. Students can dedicate time to enhancing their knowledge in each subject area using online resources.
