Skinner’s Facility Manager, Andrew Delgado Wins DPS Leadership Lamp Award!

75 Team DPS Educators Recognized at 2016 Night of Honor

Denver Public Schools (DPS) recognized 75 Team DPS educators at its annual Night of Honor celebration on Wednesday, June 8, sponsored by DeVita. See the full list of 2016 honorees.

While the majority of attendees know they are being recognized for living the DPS Shared Core Values, several honorees are noteably surprised with either the prestigious Excellence in Teams or Leadership Lamp awards at the ceremony. Andrew Delgado, facility manager at Skinner Middle School, wondered why his colleagues insisted he attend the celebration.

“I kind of wondered what was going on,” Delgado expressed to more than 200 attendees. “Why did I need to be here so badly? Now I know!”

Delgado was one of four Leadership Lamp honorees to win the district’s most distinguished award. Dorian Bennett (dean of students at Denver Discovery School), Peggie Holder (community liaison at Henry World School) and Anthony Smith (principal resident at Vista Academy) were also Leadership Lamp recipients. The Leadership Lamp is awarded to those who have proven themselves as exemplars in living the DPS Shared Core Values, and are role models for others in Team DPS.
