Skinner scholars rock the TCAP

Skinner teachers were thrilled to return to school and learn that their students rocked the TCAP last spring!  Having been on a trajectory of academic growth for four years, Skinner teachers and students reached an even higher level on the state standardized tests this last school year– we had the highest net median growth percentile of all traditional middle schools in Denver Public Schools!

“We are laser-focused on helping all kids succeed academically,” said principal Michelle Koyama.  “Whether it’s pushing proficient kids to the advanced level or supporting struggling students so they can attain grade level proficiency, our teachers are making it happen every single day.”

Check out some of our results:

Double digit increases in proficiency

  • 7th grade math proficiency increased by 14%
  • 7th grade writing proficiency increased by 12%
  • 7th grade reading proficiency increased by 10%

Outperforming DPS Middle Schools

  • 6th & 7th grade math proficiency is higher than the district average
  • 6th & 7th grade reading proficiency is higher than the district average
  • 6th & 7th grade writing proficiency is higher than the district average
