Michelle Koyama Biography

Michelle Koyama is in her 15th year of serving in the field of education. Born and raised in Denver, she graduated from Denver South High School and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. She entered teaching as a 1997 Teach For America Corps Member and taught as an elementary special education teacher in the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. While living in South Texas, she pursued her Master’s in Special Education from the University of Texas – Pan American. After returning to Denver, she acquired her principal license through the University of Denver’s Ritchie Program for School Leaders. She has worked as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and principal in the Denver Public Schools. Michelle has been at Skinner for 5 years and is in her 2nd year as principal.
