Skinner offers:

  • Honors course options in Math, Language Arts and Science for all grades
  • Robust curriculum of Spanish language instruction taught by two full-time teachers
  • Customized learning plans and hand-built schedules
  • 1-to-1 Technology School – every student receives their own Chromebook for use at school and at home
  • Student assessments every 6 weeks
  • Weekly progress reports means constant communication with parents and student accountability
  • Daily reading intervention for students not proficient in reading
  • Daily math intervention for students not proficient in math
  • City Year support means additional adult in most core classes
  • Gifted and Talented program offerings
  • 3 daily electives with 22 to choose from including: Band, Orchestra, P.E., STEM, Visual Art, Spanish, Wood Shop, Choir, Drama, Leadership, Honors Science, Yearbook & Photography, Newspaper, Creative Writing, Jazz Band, Culinary Arts and many others.
  • Our scholars showed outstanding growth in 2018 CMAS tests:
    • English Language Arts – 60% of Skinner students scored “Met” or “Exceeded Expectations” in 2018. This is a 18% increase since 2017 and a 36% increase since 2016. Skinner beat the District average by 17 percentage points
    • Math – 42% of Skinner students scored “Met” or “Exceeded Expectations” in 2018. This is an 11% increase since 2017 and a 35% increase since 2016. Skinner beat the District average by 12 percentage points
    • Science (8th Grade Only) – 49% of Skinner students scored “Met” or “Exceeded Expectations” in 2018. This is a 58% increase since 2017 and a 145% increase since 2016. Skinner beat the District average by 25 percentage points
