Congratulations Mr. Waldon!

Living Our DPS Honoree:
Joe Waldon Joe Waldon
Social Worker, Skinner Middle School
Students First, Fun
“Anyone who has met Joe Waldon, a social worker at Skinner Middle School, walks away with a smile on their face, hope in their heart and a feeling of belonging and joy! Every student at Skinner Middle School is greeted each morning at the front door with Joe’s smile and optimism. Students count on him to listen when they are struggling with family issues at home, to help access necessary clothing or food resources if they are in need or even help with figuring out a ride to school when there is no other option. He is always putting Students First.
Through his work on the DCTA bargaining team, Joe has successfully collaborated with district leaders to provide more equitable incentives through ProComp for all DCTA employees. His leadership within the Department of Social Work and Psychological services, as well as his commitment to mentoring new Social Workers, demonstrates how one person’s passion to grow others, holds us all accountable for lifelong learning.
Perhaps the most important Shared Core Value that Joe exemplifies is Fun! Skinner team members are fortunate to have weekly emails throughout the summer from Joe — coordinating summer adventures in the mountains, building community and creating deeper relationships among colleagues. In short, Joe Waldon truly embodies our DPS Shared Core Values through his relentless pursuit of making the world better for the students, staff and community around him.”
