Skinner DOMINATES DPS Science Fair!

Congratulations to our Skinner Scientists who competed at the DPS Science Fair at University of Denver on Saturday, 1/13. We had an AMAZING turnout and dominated again at the fair which is a testament to our whole science team. Thank you to Mr. Martin for once again supporting our scholars at the fair.

Wednesday, January 17 from 6:30 – 8 pm at Skinner Middle School

This is a great event to attend to learn more about Skinner. Principal Michelle Koyama gives an informative presentation, we have a student and parent panel and offer tours led by teachers. No RSVP required.


Skinner will also be at the DPS Regional SchoolChoice Expo on Monday, January 22 from 6 – 8 pm at North High School. That event includes all of the schools in the Northwest region. Skinner is part of the Northwest Middle School Enrollment Zone. Within DPS, an enrollment zone is a geographic area where the students living within it are guaranteed a seat at one of several schools, not just one particular school. No one will automatically be assigned a seat at Skinner and all families must submit a DPS SchoolChoice online form. DPS SchoolChoice Expo Week – DPS is holding five regional school expos rather than one large districtwide expo. These expos will take place the week of Jan. 22, 2018. More information here.

Prospective Family Info Night-Wed, Jan. 17 at 6:30 pm

4th and 5th Grade Families – plan to attend the Skinner Middle School Prospective Family Information Night coming up on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 6:30 pm. The evening includes a presentation by Principal Koyama, a student panel, a parent panel and plenty of time for Q&A. School tours led by teachers are also offered.
No RSVP required. Children welcome.

Skinner’s Science Fair was Tuesday, December 5. CONGRATULATIONS to our top prize winners! Look out District Science Fair…here come these incredible scientists from Skinner, taught by amazing Skinner teachers! (See below for photos).  Thank you to the 60+ fantastic judges who volunteered their time to serve, including an awesome group of former Skinner scientists (grades 9-11)!

Did you know in 2016, Skinner was the only DPS middle school to represent at the Metro Science Fair, where we had 3 projects qualify for the State Science Fair? One project went on to place 2nd! Looking forward to watching our scholars compete at the District, Local, and State levels, Best of Luck!
