Gardens Teen Leaders program at Denver Botanic Gardens

New in 2016-17, Denver Botanic Gardens has created the opportunity for students to become more involved during the school year. Participants focus on leadership development, service learning, career exploration, and networking with their peers and Gardens staff.

Information

  • Program runs from September through April
  • Participant requirements
    • Attend monthly teen meetings on Sunday afternoons during the school year
    • Participate in a group service-learning project
    • Volunteer for two special events during the school year
    • Open to ages 13-17

How to get involved:

  • Contact us to express interest in the program at vol@botanicgardens.org
  • Complete and submit application and a letter of recommendation by Sunday, July 24. (Applications will be available starting June 20.)
  • Attend mandatory first meeting with parent/guardian on Sunday, August 14

Skinner Registration – Friday, Aug. 5, 10 am – 6 pm

Skinner Families – if you were unable to register your returning student or new 6th grader on May 21, our remaining registration opportunity will be Friday, August 5 from 10 am – 6 pm in the Columbian Elementary Cafeteria.  Columbian Elementary is located at 2925 W. 40th Ave. 80211 (Federal Blvd & 40th Ave).

New 6th Grade Families: please bring the following documents with you to Registration: your child’s birth certificate; proof of address (Xcel or water bill, mortgage statement or rental lease) and your child’s immunization record.

Returning 7th & 8th Grade Families: please bring proof of address (Xcel or water bill, mortgage statement or rental lease)

All Families: please also bring payment for your student’s agenda ($7.00), student fees ($5.00) and other fees. Click for information on school fees:  Skinner Fee Sheet English      Skinner Fee Sheet Spanish

The Neighborhood Center at Skinner will also be collecting the after-school student activity fee.  Scholarship assistance and income tax credit are available. Cash or check accepted.


SUMMER HOMEWORK & SCHOOL SUPPLY LISTS: Returning 7th and 8th graders will receive their summer homework assignments on June 1.  New 6th graders can view their summer homework assignments online, click here.
