Skinner’s College4Y.O.U. Program Students visit CCD

Skinner’s College4Y.O.U. program visited the Community College of Denver this past Saturday, November 8th. Thirty-five students were hosted by CCD Admissions and got to participate in some exciting sessions, were treated to breakfast, lunch and a scavenger hunt across the Auraria campus.

The Dental Hygiene Program educated the students on careers and opportunities in their field, answered questions on dental health and hygiene and taught the students how dental hygienists clean teeth using dental models.

Next two Fabrication Welding instructors talked to the students about their department and taught the students to use a welding simulator which allowed them to practice proper techniques, speed and accuracy. The students had a good time using the simulator and trying to get the best scores they could!

Finally, a faculty member from the Engineering Department talked to the students about Computer Aided Drafting, and the importance of precision in designing parts. He also showed the students various different technologies, including a 3-D printer.

College4Y.O.U. is just one of the many after-school programs available to Skinner Scholars.
